Using your OWWL Library card

Circulation Policy

If you have a library card in Ontario, Wayne, Wyoming or Livingston counties, you have an OWWL system library card.

Getting a Card

In order to obtain a library card you need to have a valid form of picture identification that shows your current name and address. A driver’s license is perfect, but if it does not show your current address we can take a bill, rental agreement, or utility bill with your name along with photo ID.

Children must be 5 years old to get their own card. We of course require parent or guardian identification and permission. Call (585) 924-2637 for more details.

Download a registration form here.

Using Your Card

Once you have a card you can use it to check out books, music, movies, and many other fun things from any OWWL System library. Your card will allow you to access the internet on the library computers. You can also use your card to check out eBooks and digital audio books on the OWWL2Go website.

Updating Your Card

Your card expires every two years.  This helps us ensure that we keep our system up to date.  Come on in or call (585)924-2637 with your library card in hand to renew.  You will keep the same card number.

Keeping Track of Your Account

When you check out items we offer a receipt listing the items taken out and their due dates.  If you have a working email on file with us you will receive e-mail notification three days before an item is due to remind you. You are responsible for all items checked out on your library card.

You can access your account information, renew items checked out and check when they are due, through the OWWL.org  website.  The 14 digit number on the back of your card is your Patron ID and the password or PIN is usually the last 4 digits of your telephone number.  Any problems call (585)924-2637 during library hours and we can reset your PIN for you.
