Join Us for the Readathon!

The Readathon is a daylong celebration of reading and lifelong learning on Thurs., June 27th from 9 am to 6 pm in the Malone Room at the Victor Farmington Library! The Readathon highlights the importance of literacy and libraries as summer vacation begins. It’s free to attend.

Special guest readers will take turns reading their favorite books out loud for 15 minutes each to create a one-of-a-kind read-aloud marathon. They’ll read everything from children’s books to Common Sense by Thomas Paine. Some readers will even wear costumes and invite the audience to sing or dance along. Celebrity readers, Kristie Credit, Co-host of Wake Up with Tony & Kristie on Warm 101.3, and Nik Rivers, Afternoon Host, 94.1 The Zone, will bring stories to life at 10:40 am, and 3:20 pm, respectively. Click here to learn more about the readers and their selections.

Watch the readers and enjoy a delicious blend compliments of Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters paired with cookies donated by the Friends of the Victor Farmington Library. A selfie wall, craft projects for kids, and visits from the Readathon Bookworm will round out the fun.  Come cheer on your favorite readers, or stay for the entire day.

We’ll be joined by a local Girl Scout Troop sharing the two Silver Award projects they’ve just completed.  The scouts identified two issues they care about, low literacy rates and lack of interest in reading.  See how their efforts make a difference for the whole community!  While you’re here, pick up your Summer Reading challenges.

Save the date, spread the word, and join us to see book lovers bring amazing stories and adventures to life.  See you at the Readathon on June 27th!
